Visiting Far Niente was one of the best experiences of our Napa trip. We booked the Cave Collection Library Wine Tasting with Food Pairing. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. On our arrival, we were greeted warmly, giving a wonderful glass of wine, and invited to enjoy the stunning property. Then we met our guide Darlene, who took us for a tour of the caves, even singing for us. She escorted us to our own gazebo, where we met the chef. The food and wine pairings were perfect and we were given time to mix and match and enjoy it all. It was truly a visit to remember and lots of wine just came to our home to enjoy!
The winery was stunning and the host Michael was great. He was very knowledgeable and was great at re-entering the conversations as well as allowing my group of 5 to enjoy our time on the property. I visited a few wineries during my stay and this was by far the best.
Visiting Far Niente has always been an absolute pleasure, and Reed did an exceptional job taking care of us, making us feel like we were at home. My partner is gluten free, dairy free, and they had a plate of dried fruits, nuts, and gluten-free crackers ready for her. This level of detail is amazing to see and made us both so happy. On top of this, the wine is better than the service, and that is saying a lot. Be sure to visit if you're in the area.
Gorgeous Napa winery with a storybook-like setting. Beautifully manicure grounds with an impressive selection of Cabernet and Chardonnay and other varietals. The full tour of the winery is highly recommended, as there is a rich history behind this winery!
Now we know why Far Niente winery takes such a long time to get an RSVP. We tried to get an RSVP 6 months ago and we just got in. Experience: Driving into the entrance, the sign was tiny. But as you drive onto the property, it gets better and better until you reach the gated property. Then it opens up into a beautiful garden site. The enormous property looks like a fairy tale with fountains, ponds, flowers, and manicured trees everywhere. When you park, you are greeted by a lady who offers you a welcome glass of Far Niente chardonnay. It is a good white. Every group is greeted by an extremely knowledgeable hostess who tells you the history of Far Niente and shows you how the wine is being processed and made. Our host was Danielle. She is VERY good. Then we were taken to a beautiful room where we sat and tasted 5 different wines with cheese pairings. I love quality breadsticks. I believe that if you value your wine, you will also take pride in the great minute details of little things, like breadsticks. (heh heh) It shows that you value your customers and take pride in your work. No other wineries took as much time and effort to entertain us as much as Far Niente Winery did. They take good care of us like they take great care of their wines. I would recommend a day trip or a special someone to experience this. It is impressive and well worth the $$$$. Wines: I am sure that there are lots of other wines to taste, but we started with another Chardonnay, a white, a Pinot Noir, 2 different Cabernets, and ended with a dessert wine, Dolce. On top of that, she surprised us with an extra tasting of the top-of-the-line Cabernet that was super delicious. Overall, all the wines are of very good quality, well over the 7.5 (out of 10) star rating and above. I prefer the last special Cab that Danielle gave us. Of course, that was over $300 for a bottle. Hahahah..... I also wonder if the trend of making cabs is now on the smoother side of the palate, not so tannin-heavy, and the basic spicy characteristic is downplayed compared to the 2010 to 2015 era. But whatever trend and direction the winemakers go, I love and appreciate the creativity in winemaking and the results. Wine is an art form and should not be taken lightly.
