We stopped by as walk-ins. Deanna greeted us and took care of us for the tasting. By that time we’d gone to a couple of highly rated (4.8 and 4.9 on Google) wineries. This was by far the best experience. Deanna was very knowledgeable and engaging. She shared a wealth of information about the wines and made the experience very enjoyable. The cost of the tasting was also more reasonable compared to the other two where we felt the service was friendly but sparse. The BV wines were also very good.
We did the Discover Rutherford Dust tasting on Easter Sunday. Had a reservation. Grayson greeted us warmly and seated us in a private room. We enjoyed the wines poured very much, specially the Ranch 2 and Clone 6. Great host and amazing wines! Took a couple of bottles home.
Reserve a La Tour Tasting and take your time tasting the many fine wines offered. Listen to the story on each offering but don’t detach from listening with intention to your own palate noting which is most agreeable. Because it’s very subjective. I’ve a few favorites like the cab franc for everyday wine and casual gatherings. Then I have the George De La Tour for very special occasions. And last but not least, the Maestro cabs for those in between special moments that’s deserving of a tighter and lengthier backbone. There are others that I like from the reserve collection but these have been my go to.
Some nice reds here. Booked a tasting online and because we were staying next door we got a special discount. We only saw the tasting room which is essentially a big bar surrounded by merchandise for sale. We never really felt engaged however. I was going to join the club and grab a couple of nice cabs, but changed my mind when I was told the tasting fee for today would not be waived if I joined the club. Hmmm…
I was unbelievably disappointed. The staff here is awesome. They were knowledgeable and professional. They know their product and history. If the wines were as good as their staff, I would have bought a case of it! But...... I found the wines disappointing, especially given their high price tags! Do yourself a favor and pass this one by!
